Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has elevated seven associates to partner, effective Feb. 1. With the promotions the 600-lawyer firm will have 156 partners. The new partnership class is about half the size of last year’s, when the firm promoted 13 to partner. Wilson Sonsini’s record year was 1999, when the firm elected 23 associates to partner. The new partners are all based in the firm’s Palo Alto office and include six men and one woman. Three of the new partners are corporate and securities lawyers. They are Bradley Finkelstein, who received his law degree in 1996 from Columbia Law School; Burke Norton, a 1995 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law; and Martin Waters, a 1991 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Two litigators joined the partnership ranks. Intellectual property litigator Roger Chin graduated in 1995 from Yale Law School, and securities litigator Peri Nielsen received her law degree from Yale Law School in 1991. Rounding out the partner class are U.P. Peter Eng, a 1993 graduate of Pepperdine Law School who specializes in IP counseling, and employment lawyer Bradford Newman, who received his law degree from Hastings College of the Law in 1995.
