AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL LAWYERS The American College of Trial Lawyers has inducted eight D.C. partners to its invitation-only fellowship. The fellows include Roger M. Adelman of the Law Offices of Roger M. Adelman; Sanford Ain of Ain & Bank; Barry Coburn of Coburn & Schertler; David Curtin of McKee Nelson; Michele Roberts of Shea & Gardner; Douglas Spaulding of Reed Smith; Robert Trout of Trout & Richards; and John Williams of Collier Shannon Scott. Those accepted into the fellowship are “trial lawyers whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality.” EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS D.C.-based Equal Justice Works has named James Henderson III, firmwide managing partner of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan in Atlanta, Ga., as chair of its board of directors for a three-year term. Equal Justice Works trains and supports public-service-minded law students and helps to create summer and postgraduate public interest jobs. HISPANIC BAR ASSOCIATION The Hispanic Bar Association in the District has honored two people and one group to celebrate the achievements and demonstrate the contributions Latinos have made to the legal profession. The Hispanic Law Student Association at American University’s Washington College of Law was recognized. The school’s dean, Claudio Grossman, was also honored with the Judge Ricardo M. Urbina Lifetime Achievement Award. R. Alexander Acosta, assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Justice Department, has received the Hugh A. Johnson Jr. Memorial Award. PHILIPPINE-AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION The Philippine-American Educational Foundation will award Marshall Breger, a professor at Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law, the Fulbright-SyCip Family Foundation Distinguished Lecturing Award. Breger will be receiving his award as well as giving lectures before professional, scholarly, and academic institutions in the Philippines.
