ANOTHER AG JUMPS TO SCHWARZENEGGER SACRAMENTO — The brain drain from the attorney general’s office to the administration of incoming Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger continues. Schwarzenegger has appointed Special Assistant AG Paul Dobson to be his chief deputy legal affairs secretary. Dobson will work for Peter Siggins, who was AG Bill Lockyer’s chief lawyer before Schwarzenegger appointed him to be the top attorney in his new administration. Dobson, 57, has worked for the AG for a total of 23 years. He started just after graduation from Hastings College of the Law, but left in 1988 to work in the Sacramento office of Nielsen, Merksamer, Parrinello, Mueller & Naylor. He eventually became a partner there, but returned to the AG’s office after seven years. Back with the AG, Dobson served as a special counselor to Siggins and Lockyer’s chief deputy of administration and policy, Steve Coony. He also handled litigation over Prop 209 and a suit against the federal government over the costs of illegal immigration. — Jeff Chorney
