BLANK ROME Blank Rome has expanded its health care practice with the addition of Claudia Schlosberg as partner in the District. Most recently, Schlosberg, 49, was the acting director for the Program Policy and Training Division in the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She holds a law degree from the Antioch School of Law. COLLIER SHANNON SCOTT Collier Shannon Scott has expanded its D.C.-based government relations and public policy practice group with the addition of John Fielding as of counsel. Fielding, 39, was a senior counsel for financial services at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. DORSEY & WHITNEY Dorsey & Whitney has expanded its governments practice group in the District with the addition of John Howell as partner. Howell, 53, was a partner at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, where he headed the government contracts practice. Howell is a graduate of Duke University School of Law. KATTEN MUCHIN ZAVIS ROSENMAN Frederick Curry, 41, has joined Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman as counsel in the firm’s D.C. office. Curry will be senior director of the anti-money-laundering services, concentrating on helping banks and other businesses protect assets. Most recently, Curry was an examiner-in- charge at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School. LECLAIR RYAN Tara Elgie, 29, has joined LeClair Ryan as an associate in the firm’s Alexandria, Va., office. Elgie will concentrate on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. Formerly a law clerk to Judge Robert Mayer in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Elgie is a graduate of the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law. MAYER, BROWN, ROWE & MAW Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw has added Mary Ann Mayhew as a government industry specialist working out of the firm’s government contracts practice in the District. Before joining the firm, Mayhew was president of the federal government information technology solutions group at Computer Data Systems Inc. Mayhew, 51, earned her law degree at Catholic University Columbus School of Law. MORGAN, LEWIS & BOCKIUS Morgan, Lewis & Bockius has added Richard Collier as special counsel to its Philadelphia and D.C. offices. Collier will practice in the life sciences group. Most recently, he was the senior vice president and general counsel of the Pharmacia Corp. Collier, 50, is a graduate of Temple University School of Law. NIXON PEABODY Raymond Van Dyke has joined the D.C. office of Nixon Peabody as a partner in the firm’s technology and intellectual property group. Van Dyke will be representing and counseling companies in computer, software, life sciences, and emerging and cross-disciplinary technological areas. Most recently, he was a partner at Dorsey & Whitney. Van Dyke, 46, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law. TIGHE PATTON ARMSTRONG TEASDALE John Pollard III, 57, has joined Tighe Patton Armstrong Teasdale as a partner in the District. Pollard will practice in the government relations area, specializing in national security, defense acquisition, military base issues, and agriculture. Before joining the firm, Pollard was counsel to Rep. Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) and the Democratic members of the House Armed Services Committee. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. VORYS, SATER, SEYMOUR AND PEASE Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease has expanded its international trade law practice in the District with the addition of two former Holland & Knight attorneys. Frederick Waite, 57, has joined as of counsel to concentrate on customs disputes, as well as anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and import relief proceedings before a variety of U.S. government and international agencies. Waite is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Kimberly Young, 36, has joined as an associate specializing in the representation of domestic and foreign manufacturers before the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Commerce. Young received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. WILLIAMS & CONNOLLY Jaqueline Maitland Davies, 46, has rejoined Williams & Connolly as of counsel in the firm’s D.C.-based business, transactions, and tax practice group. Before joining Williams & Connolly, Davies was a partner in the corporate practice group of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. She received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. WILMER, CUTLER & PICKERING Laura Wertheimer has joined Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering as a partner in the firm’s D.C.-based securities and litigation practice. Wertheimer will focus on representing clients on Securities and Exchange Commission disclosure issues and accounting practices. Most recently, she was a partner at Shea & Gardner.
