ENVIRONMENTAL LAW INSTITUTE Aqua International Partners President and Chief Executive Officer William Reilly has been honored with the 2003 Environmental Law Institute Award. Reilly is also chairman of the U.S. board of directors of the World Wildlife Fund. The award recognizes Reilly, a former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, for his leadership in the environmental arena in both private and government sectors. FAIRFAX BAR ASSOCIATION The Fairfax Bar Association has elected new officers and board of directors for the 2003-04 fiscal year. The new officers are Vice President Richard John Ruddy Jr., of the Ruddy Law Firm in Fairfax; Treasurer Steven Ray, of Vienna’s Ray & Isler; and Secretary John “Jack” Erickson, of the Falls Church office of Reed Smith. The new members of the board are David Gogal, of Blankingship & Keith in Fairfax; David Hirsch, of Van Gils & Hirsch in Fairfax; and Kyung “Kathryn” Dickerson, of the Vienna office of Smolen Plevy. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATORS The Washington Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators has presented Eleanor Kerlow, D.C. director of marketing for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and Brooke Riter, the firm’s D.C. marketing manager, with the 2003 Silver Inkwell Award of Excellence. Kerlow and Riter were recognized for their work on the marketing campaign “Corporate America in Crisis — A Securities Press Challenge.” INTERNATIONAL FISCAL ASSOCIATION Firmwide chair of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan’s tax group Jerome Libin has been re-elected as president of the International Fiscal Association. Libin, based in Sutherland Asbill’s D.C. office, will serve a second two-year term for the world’s largest professional group devoted to the study of international tax matters. PUBLIC INTEREST HALL OF FAME Judith Conti, co-founder and director of the D.C. Employment Justice Center, will be one of 12 people in the inaugural class of the Public Interest Hall of Fame in D.C. Conti has been named because of her efforts on behalf of workers’ rights in the District.
