ANIMALS a man who claimed that a pit bull bit him in the genitals settled for $500,000 on June 18. Robert Campagna, 34, rented space for a power-washing business in a commercial complex owned by Caroline Realty Inc. of Newark, N.J. Glenn Racey rented space for his car-customization business in the same complex. Racey owned a pit bull, which he kept in a doghouse in the complex’s driveway. Campagna claimed that Racey was walking the dog, that he let go of its chain and that the dog bit him, requiring 37 stitches to his penis and scrotum. He sued Racey for negligence. He also sued Caroline Realty, claiming that Racey was its employee, which Caroline Realty denied. Racey did not participate in the settlement. Campagna v. Caroline Realty Inc., No. ESX-L-00-6404-00 (Essex Co., N.J., Super. Ct.). PLAINTIFF’S ATTORNEY: John M. Blume, Blume, Goldfaden, Berkowitz, Donnelly, Fried & Forte, Chatham, N.J.
