SEXUAL ASSAULT a man who claimed that he was sexually abused by a priest and a bishop settled with the Diocese of Covington in Kentucky for $50,000 on June 14. Mark DiMuzio, 45, claimed that, while serving as an altar boy, he was repeatedly abused by a priest, and that later, while working for the diocese, he was abused by a bishop. He sued the diocese for negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress. His father, also an employee at the diocese, joined in a retaliation claim, asserting that, after he and his son complained of the abuse, they were discharged. The $50,000 is for the assault claim. Both plaintiffs resolved their employment claims confidentially. DiMuzio v. Diocese of Covington, No. 02-CI-01645 (Kenton Co., Ky., Cir. Ct.). PLAINTIFFS’ ATTORNEY: Barbara D. Bonar, Covington, Ky. DEFENSE ATTORNEY: William J. Moran Jr., Deters, Benzinger & LaVelle, Cincinnati
