FALSE ARREST a baseball fan who sued the Chicago Cubs baseball team after becoming entangled in a melee between players and fans, then arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, on June 16 was awarded $475,000 by an Illinois jury. Ronald Camacho, 32, was attending a game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cubs at Chicago’s Wrigley Field when a Cubs fan grabbed the cap of Dodgers catcher Chad Kreuter. When Kreuter, followed by several teammates, went into the stands to chase him, Camacho made a comment to Kreuter, who proceeded to choke him. A melee ensued. Camacho was prosecuted but was acquitted. He claimed pain and suffering and embarrassment. He had already settled with the Dodgers for $300,000. Camacho v. The Chicago National League Ball Club Inc., No. 00-L-6035 (Cook Co., Ill., Cir. Ct.). PLAINTIFF’S ATTORNEY: Gregory A. Adamski, Adamski & Conti, Chicago DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Scott C.
