WRONGFUL DISCHARGE three former hotel managers employed by Connecticut’s Mashantucket Pequot Tribe were awarded $6.8 million in damages on May 21 on one of their claims. Patricia Webster, Frank DelGreco and John Mulcahy sued Pequot Mystic Hotel LLC and Chief of Staff A. Searle Field. They claimed that Webster was let go in retaliation for firing an employee against the wishes of the Tribal Council, and that DelGreco and Mulcahy were fired for not cooperating with an investigation of Webster. The tribe accused all three of improper use of hotel funds, and told other staff that criminal charges were possible. The plaintiffs sued on breach of contract, wrongful termination and other theories, but prevailed on only one: intentional infliction of emotional distress. Webster v. Pequot Mystic Hotel, No. X04-CV-00-0125166-S (Norwich, Conn., Super. Ct.). PLAINTIFFS’ ATTORNEY: Jacques J. Parenteau, Madsen, Prestley & Parenteau, New London, Conn. DEFENSE ATTORNEY: David S. Williams, Brown Jacobson, Norwich, Conn.
