KATTEN MUCHIN ZAVIS ROSENMAN Peter Riebling has joined the national intellectual property practice of Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman as a partner. Riebling, 37, will focus on trademark, copyright, and trade secret-related counseling, litigation, and licensing. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at Arter & Hadden. Riebling is a graduate of the Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. Also joining from Arter & Hadden is Rebecca McDougall, who will work as an associate in Katten Muchin’s intellectual property practice. McDougall, 31, is a graduate of Catholic University Columbus School of Law. STERNE, KESSLER, GOLDSTEIN & FOX Marvin Guthrie has joined Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox as senior adviser for technology transfer. He was most recently a vice president of Massachusetts General Hospital. Guthrie, 65, is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has brought on two new lawyers. Lynn Haaland, 35, has been appointed an assistant U.S. attorney in the Special Proceedings Section. Prior to that, she was a legal officer for the United Nations’ Office of Legal Affairs. Haaland is a graduate of George Washington University National Law Center. Allison Harnisch, 29, has been named an assistant U.S. attorney in the Appellate Division. Harnisch had been a trial attorney with the Office of Consumer Litigation in the Department of Justice. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School. VENABLE Matt Swartz has joined Venable’s corporate finance and securities practice as of counsel. He joined Venable from the Reston office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, where he was of counsel. Swartz, 35, who will be based in Venable’s Northern Virginia office, is a graduate of the University of California’s Hastings College of Law. WILKINSON BARKER KNAUER Kevin Kuzas has joined Wilkinson Barker Knauer as a partner. He was most recently a D.C. partner at Dow, Lohnes & Albertson in the firm’s media and information technology practice group. Kuzas, 36, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.
