Inn of Court Announcements The Justice Robert L. Clifford Inn of Court in Passaic County is accepting applications for students, barristers and masters positions for the September 2003 to June 2004 term. The Inn’s primary focus is civil litigation and will meet the first Thursday of each month. Cost is $350. The Sidney Reitman Employment Law Inn of Court is accepting applications for its 2003-2005 cycle, commencing in September 2003. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in practicing labor and employment law, and New York and Pennsylvania MCLE credits are expected for participation. Women Lawyers in Bergen Discuss Goals for the Future On April 12, the Women Lawyers in Bergen held a half-day meeting to set goals for adapting to the needs of its members in the 21st century. The guest speaker was Paula Franzese, professor at Seton Hall University School of Law. The goals that were considered at the conference include forming a bench/bar committee and appointing a liaison, increasing the number of women judges, hiring an executive director and reviewing the current bylaws that were last revised in June 1994. Franzese ended her address to the organization by saying, “Don’t get sidetracked by irrelevancies; think about what we want to leave behind; focus on our legacy.” Defense Association Discusses Jury Selection Strategies On Feb. 12, the New Jersey Defense Association held a seminar on “Jury Selection Strategies” at the Sheraton Woodbridge Place in Iselin. Speakers at the seminar included Frank Cofone Jr. of D’Amico & Cofone in New Brunswick; John B. Collins of Bongiovanni, Collins & Warden in Denville; Hon. Douglas T. Hague; Peter Korn of McDonough, Korn & Eichhorn in Springfield; Gerald O’Connor of O’Connor & Demas in Chatham; and Brian O’Toole of O’Toole & Couch in Whippany.
