ASSAULT AND BATTERY a man who was attacked by four employees of a copy center was awarded $350,000 by a Pennsylvania jury on April 22. Gregory Seaton, 30, went to Campus Copy Center in Philadelphia to have maps printed. After being denied service, Seaton, an African-American, asked store manager Ronald Shapiro if he needed to be white to get service. An altercation ensued, with Shapiro and three other employees hitting Seaton and locking him in the store. Seaton sued the store for assault and battery, false imprisonment and negligence based on the store’s lack of managerial controls and for retaining Shapiro, a convicted felon. Seaton v.
