PENNIE & EDMONDS Pennie & Edmonds has promoted two attorneys in its D.C. office. Nancy Lutz,who joined Pennie & Edmonds in 1995, was recently elected partner. Lutz manages worldwide portfolios for sporting goods and apparel marks and counsels clients on trademark, copyright, and advertising matters involving, among other things, licensing and infringement. In addition, she oversees foreign litigation and opposition and cancellation proceedings. Lutz, 44, earned her law degree from the John Marshall Law School. Carl Bretscher,who has been with Pennie & Edmonds since 1999, was promoted to counsel. He concentrates his legal practice on patent litigation, with a special focus on practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. International Trade Commission. Bretscher, 40, graduated from the George Washington University School of Law. ROTHWELL, FIGG D.C.’s Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck has recently added four new lawyers. Carla Calcagno,46, has joined the firm as a partner. Calcagno, who specializes in trademark, Internet, and unfair competition matters, had been a partner with D.C.’s Howrey Simon Arnold & White. She holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. John McCahill,64, has become affiliated with the firm as of counsel. McCahill, a litigation specialist, will also continue his of counsel affiliation with Artabane & Belden. He is a graduate of Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. Brian Tollefson,33, joined Rothwell, Figg as an associate. Tollefson focuses his practice on patent litigation and prosecution, with particular emphasis on computer, Internet, and electric utilities. He had been an associate with D.C.’s Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn. Tollefson graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law. Joyce von Natzmer,33, also joined the firm as an associate. Prior to joining Rothwell, Figg, von Natzmer had been an associate with Hall, Priddy, Myers & Vande Sande. She specializes in patent prosecution, with a particular focus on the areas of biotechnology and biochemistry. She is a graduate of American University Washington College of Law. U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE Charlotte Bradleyand Eric Gallunhave joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District as assistant U.S. attorneys. Bradley, 44, will be assigned to the Civil Division. Prior to joining the office, Bradley was a trial attorney in the general litigation section of the District’s Office of Corporation Counsel. She received her law degree from Tulane University School of Law. Gallun, 32, will be assigned to the Appellate Division. Prior to joining the federal prosecutor’s office, Gallun was assistant D.C. corporation counsel assigned to the Juvenile Section, Sex Crimes Unit. He is a graduate of New England School of Law. WILLIAMS MULLEN David Brunshas joined Williams Mullen as an associate in the litigation section and will practice out of the firm’s Tysons Corner, Va., office. Bruns had been an associate with San Francisco’s Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold. Bruns focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, government contracts, and white collar criminal defense. Bruns, 30, holds a law degree from William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
