PREMISES LIABILITY a secretary agreed to a $95,000 settlement after her hand was crushed in the front door of a bank. As Michele Bertett, 30, was leaving the Newfield National Bank of Williamstown, N.J., her right wrist and little finger were injured by a door that pushed shut. She blamed the incident on defective ventilation, which blew air into-but not out of-the vestibule. Though the bank denied liability and disputed the extent of her injuries, it settled on April 7. Bertett v. Newfield National Bank, No. GLO-1421-00 (Gloucester Co., N.J., Super. Ct.). PLAINTIFF’S ATTORNEY: Stephen W. Guice, Stephen Guice, Barrington, N.J. DEFENSE ATTORNEY: John Gercke, Gercke, Dumser, Shoemaker & Sierzega, Cherry Hill, N.J. Source: National Jury Verdict Reporter
