New Jersey must pay for condemning parking lot

the state of new jersey must pay $93,710 to a liquor store after condemning part of its property for a road project. The state assessed the value of the taking at $40,900, and offered to replace lost parking. Mattera's Liquor sought $400,000, including $250,000 for a redesign it claimed was now necessary. The judge excluded the redesign amount. The New Jersey jury determined just compensation on March 26. New Jersey v. Mattera's Liquor, No. L-80-01 (Cape May Co., N.J., Super. Ct.).
