PREMISES LIABILITY a man who sustained burns and other injuries in a fire at a construction site settled with three defendants for $2.3 million on April 8. Jerry McNeil, 30, was doing demolition work in connection with the renovation of the Arsenal Building Center in Philadelphia for use as a charter school, when the heat from his welding torch ignited liquid and oil in a chiller that he was dismantling, causing a flash fire. McNeil sued the owners of the building, the company hired to perform demolition work in the building, the lessee of the building and the general contracting company in charge of the renovation. He settled with the demolition company and the general contractor for $1.1 million each, and with the lessee for $100,000. McNeil v.
