GLOBAL CENTER The Global Center for Dispute Resolution Research has awarded a grant of $50,000 to D.C.’s International Law Institute.The grant will fund a research project entitled “Critical Factors in the Establishment of a Viable Arbitration Regime.” The project will analyze arbitration regimes and other relevant economic and social factors, focusing on such countries as England, Egypt, China, Mexico, Ukraine, and Kenya. It will be led by Markham Bell,an attorney with experience in the field of domestic and international arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, and international development projects. The International Law Institute seeks to help the international community solve problems through law and economic development. LEADERSHIP AWARDS Two D.C. lawyers were recently awarded Kroll Ontrack’s Electronic Evidence Thought Leadership awards. Julia Gutman,a partner in the D.C. office of Baker Botts, was awarded the Leading Litigator Award, for the integration of e-evidence issues into her litigation strategies.
