ARNOLD & PORTER Arnold & Porter’s Northern Virginia office has expanded its private equity practice with the addition of Kevin Lavin.A former partner at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, Lavin’s area of expertise includes venture capital finance, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings. Lavin, 39, is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. BLANK ROME Blank Rome has announced that J. Caleb Boggs IIIhas been promoted to partner. Boggs is a member of the government relations group in both the firm’s D.C. and Wilmington, Del., offices, and focuses his practice in the areas of government law, government relations, and legislative and regulatory representation. Boggs, 40, earned his law degree from Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law. COMPUTER SCIENCES CORP. Robert Ganshas joined the corporate legal department of Falls Church, Va.’s Computer Sciences Corp. as labor and employment counsel. Gans most recently served as the East Coast division employment counsel for Nordstrom Inc. in McLean. Gans, 33, is a graduate of Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. JENNERY & BLOCK The D.C. office of Jenner & Block has recently added two new partners to its ranks. Catherine Abbottjoined the firm from the D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis, where she was a partner. She specializes in mergers and acquisitions and securities law. Abbott, 33, is a graduate of Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. Michael DeSanctiswas recently elected into the firm’s partnership. He practices in the firm’s appellate and Supreme Court, litigation, and telecommunications practices. DeSanctis, 33, received his juris doctorate from New York University School of Law. NATIONAL WOMEN’S LAW CENTER Judy Waxmanhas joined the National Women’s Law Center as vice president, health and reproductive rights. In her new role, Waxman will work with a team of advocates to advance women’s health issues and reproductive rights. She most recently served as deputy executive director of Families USA, where she focused on a broad range of health care issues. Waxman, 56, earned her law degree at American University’s Washington College of Law. NIXON PEABODY Nixon Peabody has named two new partners in its D.C. office. Louis Dolan Jr.,a member of the firm’s business litigation group, focuses on general corporate and commercial litigation, real estate-related litigation, and bankruptcy. Dolan, 38, is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law. Michael Reardonis a member of the firm’s affordable housing group, and concentrates his practice on matters related to the preservation of affordable housing. Reardon, 52, is a graduate of Boston’s Suffolk University Law School. ROTHWELL, FIGG, ERNST & MANHECK D.C.’s Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manheck has recently added two new associates. Tara Patespecializes in patent litigation and prosecution, with a focus on biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Before joining Rothwell, Figg, Pate was an associate with D.C.’s Covington & Burling. Pate, 27, holds a law degree from Harvard Law School. Monica Kittsspecializes in patent prosecution, with an emphasis on chemicals, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. Before joining Rothwell, Figg, Kitts was an associate with D.C.’s Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn. Kitts, 38, earned her law degree at George Mason University Law School. U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Stanton Anderson,a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery’s D.C. office, has been named executive vice president and chief legal officer for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In this new position, Anderson will focus on general legal reform and the defense of business interests in the courts. While serving as chief legal officer, he will remain a partner at McDermott.
