ARENT FOX The D.C. office of Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn has expanded its government affairs practice with the addition John Thune,the former U.S. congressman from South Dakota. Thune will serve as the firm’s senior government affairs counselor. First elected to the House of Representatives in 1996 and re-elected in 1998 and 2000, Republican Thune, 42, holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota. BONNER KIERNAN Bonner Kiernan Trebach & Crociata recently announced three promotions in D.C.: Carolyn Israel Stein,37, has been promoted from of counsel to partner. A graduate of George Washington University Law School, Stein handles matters in the areas of medical malpractice, products liability, and construction litigation. Alan Block,37, has also been promoted from of counsel to partner. Block’s practice includes employers’ liability, medical malpractice, and construction law. He is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law. Felicity McGrath,32, has been promoted from associate to of counsel. She is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and specializes in products liability, premises liability, and personal injury. GIBSON, DUNN & CRUTCHER Diana Richard,49, has been named partner in the D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Richard is a member of the firm’s government and commercial contracts and intellectual property practice groups. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law. HALLIBURTON KBR George Sigaloshas joined Halliburton KBR Government Operations as director of government relations. A former press aide to Ways and Means Committee Vice Chairman Philip Crane (R-Ill.) and to two Republican secretaries of commerce, Sigalos moves from the Contract Services Association of America, where he served as counsel to the president and director of public affairs for the federal contractor organization.
