The Nasdaq may be shaky, but Neal Dittersdorf says that “industry hasn’t stopped buying information technology.” He should know. Dittersdorf, 42, left the general counsel spot at Credit Management Solutions, Inc., a software company, in February to become counsel at the Washington, D.C.-based Venable, Baetjer, Howard & Civiletti. At Venable he is helping clients negotiate contracts related to information technology, including outsourcing, data processing, and software licensing agreements. He also consults with clients on the risks associated with information technology and strategies for dealing with those risks. For example, he advises companies on the adequacy of their insurance coverage in the event that a hacker gets hold of sensitive customer information. At Credit Management Solutions, Dittersdorf was also immersed in technology issues. The Annapolis Junction, Maryland, company provides software and information technology to banks and other companies in the credit industry. Dittersdorf left after four years when The First American Corporation bought Credit Management. He says that his in-house experience gave him “a lot better perspective on business priorities.” Dittersdorf is a native New Yorker. He received his law degree from New York University in 1984.
