BANNER & WITCOFF Banner & Witcoff’s D.C. office has elected three new partners: Steve Chang, 31, focuses his practice on various phases of patent litigation, including pre-suit investigation, trial strategy and post-trial practice. He is a graduate of the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law. William Rauchholz, 38, concentrates his practice on securing patent and trademark protection, counseling clients on patent and trademark issues, and litigating intellectual property issues before federal courts and federal administrative agencies. Rauchholz earned his law degree from George Mason University School of Law. Paul Rivard, 32, counsels clients on patent matters and prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts. He received his law degree from Catholic University Columbus School of Law. BUCHANAN INGERSOLL Ronald Perlman has joined Buchanan Ingersoll’s D.C. office as a shareholder in the corporate finance and technology section. Perlman will play an integral role in launching the firm’s new government contracts practice. His government contracts experience includes working with the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, and the Federal Aviation Administration, among other agencies. Perlman, 54, is a graduate of George Washington University Law School. FULBRIGHT & JAWORSKI The D.C. office of Fulbright & Jaworski has added David Deal to its ranks. Deal joins the firm as senior counsel in the firm’s energy practice. He most recently served as assistant general counsel and director in the Office of General Counsel at the American Petroleum Institute. Deal, 58, holds a law degree from George Washington University Law School. JAFFE ASSOCIATES Bethesda, Md.’s Jaffe Associates, a business development consulting firm that frequently works with law firms, recently added five new members to its team. Patrick Cullen, 52, joins as vice president of media relations. He was most recently the principal and founder of Communications Strategies Inc. and previously served as the director of news coverage at ABC News’ Washington bureau. Cullen earned his bachelor’s degree from Regis College. Kim Etheridge, 39, joins as vice president of business development technology. She was a senior Web producer of the Constellation Energy Group in Baltimore. Etheridge is a graduate of the University of Maryland. Mark Frieden, 41, joins as a sales consultant. He most recently served as a sales team leader and internet business adviser for WashingtonPost.com. Frieden holds a master’s degree in international management in marketing from the University of Maryland and a B.S. degree from James Madison University. Amy Knapp, 42, joins as a client manager. She was previously a principal of Knapp Marketing Communications in the District. Knapp is a graduate of Westminster College. Diane Michie, 42, joins as a controller. She most recently was accounting department manager for the Ariel Research Corp. ORRICK, HERRINGTON & SUTCLIFFE Mark Riccardi has been elected a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Riccardi works in the D.C. office for Orrick’s structured finance group, with an emphasis on representing financial institutions and asset-backed commercial paper conduits in securitization transactions.
