NOSSAMAN NAMES FOUR NEW PARTNERS Nossaman, Guthner, Knox & Elliott looked north and south for its latest partner class, elevating a total of four people between its San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. In San Francisco, Scott Abrams and Carol René Brophy made partner. Abrams, 35, of Lafayette, earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1993 and now works in the firm’s business transactions group. He specializes in technology, real estate and emerging growth companies. Brophy got her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1991. She practices in the land use, environmental and real property and litigation groups, focusing on federal and state environmental regulations. She lives in Orinda. Linda Cunningham, 49, and Christine Ryan, 37, are the new Southern California partners. Cunningham, who graduated from Hastings College of the Law in 1986, is a member of the firm’s infrastructure and land use and environmental groups. Ryan is also with the infrastructure group. She graduated from the University of Southern California Law School in 1992. The firm now has 62 partners, including 16 in San Francisco and 26 in Los Angeles. — Jeff Chorney FOUR ELEVATED AT SHEPPARD, MULLIN Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has promoted four attorneys to its partnership. The size of the new partner class is identical to those of the previous two years. And as with last year’s new partner crop, two of the four are in the firm’s finance and bankruptcy group. Jeffrey Rehfeld, the sole new partner in Sheppard, Mullin’s San Francisco office, is one of the finance and bankruptcy group attorneys. A 1994 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law, Rehfeld represents debtors, creditors and creditors’ committees in commercial bankruptcies. John Friedrichs, the other new partner in the finance and bankruptcy group specializes in commercial lending transactions. Friedrichs practices in Sheppard, Mullin’s Los Angeles office and is a 1994 graduate of Boalt Hall. Brian Daucher is an intellectual property litigator who works in the firm’s business trial and IP groups, and focuses on trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation. Daucher earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 1994 and practices in Orange County. Frank Johnson Jr., who practices in the Del Mar office, is a member of Sheppard, Mullin’s construction, environmental, real estate & land use litigation group. He also works with the IP group and is a 1994 graduate of Washington University School of Law. Sheppard, Mullin has more than 340 attorneys in seven offices throughout California. “Each of these attorneys will be a strong addition to the partnership,” said Executive Committee Chairman Guy Halgren. “They exemplify what Sheppard, Mullin is all about — providing the highest quality legal work, superior client service and exceptional value.” — Alexei Oreskovic
