Townsend and Townsend and Crew has elevated eight attorneys to partner — the largest incoming class in firm history — bringing the total to 64 partners in five offices. “Our continued growth is not just concentrated in one geographic area, it is across all offices and practice groups,” said firm Chairman James Gilliland Jr. in a press release. “In just one example of that success, we’re pleased to welcome three new partners to our litigation group — a reflection of the ever-growing significance of the firm’s trial work since combining the patent prosecution expertise of Townsend and Townsend and the seasoned litigators of Khourie, Crew & Jaeger 10 years ago.” The new partners work out of the firm’s San Francisco, Palo Alto, Walnut Creek and Denver, Colo., locations. The firm’s fifth office is located in Seattle. Robert McFarlane, Iris Mitrakos, Horace Ng and Robert Wales have been elevated in the San Francisco office. McFarlane, 35, works on intellectual property, antitrust and complex commercial matters. He previously served as an extern for Judge Eugene Lynch of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District. He earned his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1994. Specializing in complex business litigation, Mitrakos, 36, focuses on antitrust, IP and trade secrets. Prior to joining the firm she worked at Freeland Cooper Lehocky & Hamburg in San Francisco and Genovese, Lichman, Joblove & Battista in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She earned her law degree in 1990 from University of Florida College of Law. Ng, 35, practices in the firm’s electronics and software group. He is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Ng earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1993. A member of the firm’s litigation group, Wales, 35, handles all areas of IP litigation in addition to antitrust litigation. Wales earned his law degree in 1995 from George Washington University Law School. Chun-Pok Leung, 41, practices in the firm’s Palo Alto office. He is a member of the firm’s electronics and software group, where he prosecutes patents. He earned his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of the Law in 1995. In the Walnut Creek office, Joseph Snyder, 44, is a member of the chemical and biotechnology group. He focuses on patent prosecution in biotechnology. Snyder earned his law degree in 1995 from University of San Francisco School of Law. Chad Hilyard, 36, and William Vobach, 37, practice in the Denver office as members of the electronics and software group. Hilyard earned his J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law in 1995. Vobach earned his law degree from University of Denver College of Law in 1994. “Their talents will allow us to continue navigating this increasingly complex marketplace and to build on the solid roots we’ve planted in intellectual property law nationwide,” Gilliland said.
