On Friday, the governor named four new justices to San Francisco’s First District Court of Appeal, one to Sacramento’s Third District and one new judge to San Francisco Superior Court. He also elevated two First District jurists to the rank of presiding justice.

The appellate judges still face confirmation by the state’s Commission on Judicial Performance, but will likely be in their new positions by early 2002.
