On Tuesday, three angry First District Court of Appeal justices sanctioned San Francisco solo practitioner Daniel Ray Bacon $3,700 and his clients, George and Peggy Heubel, $9,700 for filing a frivolous appeal and for failing to advise the court of a bankruptcy petition that could have affected the case.

“In the present case,” Justice Paul Haerle wrote for the court, “the degree of frivolousness and delay is extremely high and our desire to discourage like conduct in the future is very strong.”
