In 2003, I attended my first SuperConference back when we were still Corporate Legal Times. I was a brand-new associate editor at the time, and I was still learning the many things a journalist needs to know about providing quality content to the corporate in-house bar. I had no idea what to expect at SuperConference, but I was confident it would be helpful in advancing my understanding of the challenges in-house counsel confront on a daily basis.
Our keynote speakers that year were Eliot Spitzer, then the New York Attorney General, and Ted Olson, then the Solicitor General of the United States. Both gave interesting speeches about how they saw the political climate at the time playing into corporate America. And although I knew very little about the work of inhouse counsel back then, I found the many breakout sessions to be enlightening and very educational.
