Australian firm Clayton Utz has hired back its former private equity head from Ashurst as a partner.

David Stammers returns to the firm’s Sydney office after 16 months at the British-Australian firm. He has represented Australian and international private equity firms such as Pacific Equity Partners, Ironbridge Capital, Archer Capital, Bain Capital Inc. and CVC Asia Pacific Ltd. on fund formation, acquisitions and exits. In 2014, he advised U.S. insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. on a $938 million acquisition of Perth-based Wesfarmers Ltd.’s insurance brokerage unit.
