SACRAMENTO — The author of legislation to allow gig-economy workers to unionize pulled the plug on the bill Thursday, saying she wants to “continue discussions” about the measure’s complex legal issues over the next year.

AB 1727 passed the Assembly Labor Committee, 5-1, late Wednesday. But after it was sent to the Assembly Judiciary Committee Thursday, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, declined to take it up for a vote.
