SAN FRANCISCO — An army of lawyers came together to pull off two megadeals on Wednesday in the chip-making sector, both valued at more than $10 billion. The deals follow a trend of rapid consolidation for the semiconductor industry and tap into increasingly popular methods for deal financing, lawyers said.

In the first deal, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton represented Irvine-based Western Digital Corp. in its agreement to purchase flash memory maker SanDisk Corp. for $19 billion. Milpitas-based SanDisk, in turn, was represented by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
