SAN FRANCISCO — Republican presidential candidate and former Florida governor Jeb Bush visited the San Francisco headquarters of Thumbtack Inc. on Thursday in an attempt to establish himself as the pro-innovation, pro-disruption economy choice for voters in the upcoming 2016 election.
“People want to customize their own dreams, they don’t want to get in line anymore,” Bush told the audience, packed into a company cafeteria along with reporters and a row of television cameras in the South of Market office. Bush crafted his message for the startup workforce, telling the jeans-and-button-down crowd that government today is outdated, like “General Motors in 1975.”
