Asia has been a powerful magnet for international firms over the past decade, as data from the annual NLJ 250 and 350 surveys indicates. The chart here shows head counts for Am Law 200 offices in eight major Asian Pacific cities during the 10 years leading up to calendar year 2014.

Overall, the number of Am Law 200 attorneys in the region has nearly tripled during that time. In Hong Kong, the top U.S. firms doubled their lawyers on the ground, from 632 to 1,284, while the number of lawyers at American firms in Beijing and Shanghai nearly quadrupled to more than 400 in each city. In Singapore, The Am Law 200 added 40 new lawyers in the past two years.
