The legal teams challenging bans on such marriages and their recognition in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee announced on Tuesday that Mary Bonauto, civil rights project director for Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), and Douglas Hallward-Driemeier, who leads the Supreme Court and appellate practice at Ropes & Gray, will appear at the lectern for their gay and lesbian clients.

The state attorneys general defending their state bans informed the court on March 17 that former Michigan Solicitor General John Bursch of Warner Norcross & Judd in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Tennessee Associate Attorney General Joseph Whalen will represent the four states.
