SAN FRANCISCO — Diablo Technologies Inc. successfully deflected charges that it stole trade secrets from Irvine-based memory- and data-system developer Netlist Inc., securing a jury verdict Wednesday that awarded Netlist just $2 in damages and sent its stock plummeting roughly 50 percent.

McDermott Will & Emery represented Diablo, a Canadian developer of memory-storage products, in the two-week trial before U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers of the Northern District of California. Los Angeles-based partner Russell Hayman and Menlo Park-based partner Fabio Marino led the defense. Netlist had sought $6.5 million in damages.
