The federal government during 2014 awarded more than 1,900 contractors legal services work valued at $508.8 million, the smallest pool of money since at least 2008, according to an annual analysis by The National Law Journal of government contracting records. More than half of the money came from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The awards show a $33.3 million decline from 2013 and $205.4 million drop from 2010, the last year the government increased its spending on legal services contractors.
