A federal judge has recused herself from a bitter trademark dispute involving the law firm named for O.J. Simpson defender Johnnie Cochran.

U.S. District Judge Beverly Reid O’Connell was overseeing a case between The Cochran Firm and Randy McMurray, who ran the Los Angeles office from 2007 to 2012. The firm sued McMurray in 2012 after he began operating as The Cochran Law Group. McMurray, in response, has alleged that The Cochran Firm, which is actually a network of partnerships, is misleading the public about how it operates.
