Simpson Thacher & Bartlett is advising KKR & Co. on its proposed $1.1 billion acquisition of Singaporean packaging company Goodpack Ltd.

Pending shareholder approval, the deal represents the U.S. private equity giant’s largest ever investment in Southeast Asia.

Goodpack makes containers for chemicals, food and rubber and distributes its products to more than 60 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

Simpson Thacher Hong Kong partners Kathryn Sudol and Sinead O’Shea are leading a team advising KKR. The New York firm also recently represented KKR in its $5.8 billion sale of South Korea’s Oriental Brewery Co. Ltd. to Anheuser-Busch InBev and its $1.76 billion acquisition of an 80 percent stake in Panasonic’s healthcare unit.

WongPartnership co-managing partner Wai King Ng is advising KKR on Singapore law.

Allen & Gledhill is representing Goodpack. Rajah & Tann is acting for David Lam, Goodpack’s executive chairman and largest shareholder, who is selling his 32 percent stake to KKR.
