K&L Gates has added a partner to its Hong Kong office.

Greg Heaton was previously a partner with Deacons. He specializes in investment management and financial services regulations. He advises investment managers, institutional trustees, custodians and fund administrators on matters including fund formation, licensing and regulatory compliance.

Heaton joined Deacons in 2005 from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in Sydney, where he worked on the implementation of Australia’s new financial services licensing regime. Earlier in his career, he worked as a commercial litigation associate in the Sydney office of Clayton Utz.

According to its website, K&L Gates has 20 lawyers in Hong Kong. Globally, the firm has about 1,750 lawyers in 48 offices.
