The Energizer Bunny has nothing on Tex McIver. He moved to Atlanta in late 1972 to join management-side employment boutique Fisher & Phillips. In 1973, he ran his first Peachtree Road Race. Four decades later, he’s still at it, with no plans to stop.

“As long as I’m drawing breath, I won’t miss this race,” said McIver, 71. “Of course, now it’s more of a walking/spectator sport for me. But I take pride in it. Atlanta is my city and this is one of its primo events. I really look forward to it every year.”
