Barry Minkow likes reinventing himself. The one-time Wall Street wunderkind turned to fraud and went to prison. Free again, he was an anti-fraud crusader, a man of God and once again a con artist. He’s now heading back behind bars.
Minkow was sentenced Thursday to five years in federal prison for masterminding an online campaign against Lennar that depressed the Miami-based home-builder’s share price. He was ordered to pay $584 million to Lennar for teaming up with a vengeful litigant identified by Lennar as San Diego developer Nicolas Marsch III.
