Handing Wyeth a setback in a patent infringement suit over its antidepressant Effexor XR, a federal judge says the pharmaceutical manufacturer can’t claim its out-of-court settlements in earlier cases are confidential.

Magistrate Judge Douglas Arpert in Trenton, N.J., held Tuesday that the discovery request was reasonable and relevant to defense of the suit, Wyeth v. Orgenus Pharma Inc., 09-cv-03235.
