California’s 3rd District Court of Appeal in Sacramento on Thursday denied the Pacific Justice Institute’s petition for a writ of mandamus, killing the latest attempt by foes of gay marriage to shore up standing for the pending appeal.

The one-line order (pdf) denying the petition summarily was signed Wednesday and entered Thursday, before even Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown responded.
