A list of persons charged with misdemeanor offenses that a Lubbock, Texas, television station published online in March erroneously included the names of about 25 lawyers. Four of those lawyers have fired back by suing the station, its general manager and its Web provider.
In their original petition, filed July 26 in the 99th District Court in Lubbock, plaintiffs Vince Martinez, Sara Moore, Jody Myatt and Frederick Stangl allege that the publication of the list and the resulting damages constitute libel per se.
