Willkie Farr & Gallagher has recruited two restructuring partners from Kaye Scholer, including the practice’s co-chair. Margot B. Schonholtz and Ana M. Alfonso will join Willkie as partners in New York as part of the firm’s effort to diversify its restructuring practice to include representing institutional lenders as well as debtors and private equity and hedge funds.

Marc Abrams, the co-chair of Willkie’s restructuring department, said the firm had been looking for a year to expand the practice into Schonholtz’s field. “It really strengthens and diversifies our group” by bringing in “someone with immediate cachet with substantial institutional lenders,” he said. Schonholtz’s clients have included Bank of America Corp., Royal Bank of Scotland and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
