President Barack Obama has decided to nominate Susan Carney, who spent two decades as a Washington lawyer before going to work for Yale University, to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the White House said Thursday.

Carney will be Obama’s fifth nominee for the 2nd Circuit, which has emerged as a top priority for the Obama administration after a rash of vacancies.
