The number of first-year associates entering the Philadelphia offices of local firms increased 2.8 percent between 2008 and 2009 as the economy didn’t fall soon enough for some firms to realize they would have a drop in employment needs come this month.

The 15 firms that responded to The Legal Intelligencer‘s 2009 Philadelphia First-Year Associates Survey brought on 109 first-years to their Philadelphia offices in 2008 and 112 in 2009.
