Chris McVety is a salt snob. The Reed Smith M&A partner has spent the last two years tasting and blending first-quality salts from around the world, and in July, he launched Beyond The Shaker, a company that sells gourmet salts and blends. McVety says that Reed Smith and his clients have been very supportive of his salt venture -- and didn't mind acting as guinea pigs during the planning process. His experience with Beyond the Shaker has also made him understand his corporate clients better, McVety says.
