A little over two years ago I left a position at a regional employment firm in Birmingham, Ala., to start my own solo practice with an emphasis on criminal law, civil litigation and landlord/tenant law. Moving to my own practice has been a rewarding transition, but when things get really busy, it’s often difficult to find enough time to maintain a healthy work/life balance. On those days when I have to appear in four or five different courtrooms, it’s essential that I have an efficient, portable way of managing my practice remotely; I also need a solution that is sensitive to the limited budget of my small firm.
Being tech-savvy, I strive to leverage leading edge technologies to improve my own efficiency and to provide superior service to my clients — these were my primary motivations when searching for a practice management solution. Over the course of my search I evaluated a variety of programs including Time Matters and Time 59. Although both applications have much to offer, I found Time Matters to be impractical for my needs due to the overall program complexity and highly technical setup process.
