Jeffrey Steiner and seven corporate and finance partners have jumped from Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner to DLA Piper, indicating a major retrenchment of Thelen's merger two years ago. Steiner is the third name partner to defect recently from the firm, which announced Monday it will shorten its legal name next month to Thelen. The release did not mention the name partners' departure. The firm said the name change was part of last year's decision to implement a new logo for branding and marketing.

Steiner is the third name partner to defect from the ailing law firm recently. Earlier this month, Richard Raysman left the law firm. His move followed the departure in June of Peter Brown.
