Abu Dhabi has come a long way from the days when it was Garfield’s choice of a far-flung destination to mail his annoying kitten nemesis, Nermel. Hogan & Hartson is the latest law firm to open an office in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a city where wealth levels are off the charts and the construction industry hums 24/7.

“There is just so much going on there,” says firm Chairman Warren Gorrell. “It’s very well-suited to our strengths.” The firm has done work in the Middle East for more than 25 years.
