An Ohio law professor was named the first black dean of Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center on Wednesday, ending a six-month search.

Athornia Steele of Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, has been selected to replace Joseph Harbaugh in August at the 1,049-student law school based in Davie, Fla.
