Athornia Steele has been named the first black dean of Nova Southeastern University's Shepard Broad Law Center, ending a six-month search. A law professor at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, Steele was selected to replace Joseph Harbaugh in August at the 1,049-student law school based in Davie, Fla. Steele, who will lead a school in the bottom tier on U.S. News & World Report 's rankings of the nation's law schools, says he didn't consider the rating when he decided to take the job.
